 General Purpose of Job:  

Coordinates the operational activities in the Medical Oncology clinics, Cancer Center Infusion.  This includes, but is not limited to systems, patient flow, patient care, expense management and other functions required to maintain an effective service-oriented clinic practice.  Interfaces with program physicians in clinic setting on a regular basis.

  • Coordinates day-to-day operations of Medical Oncology Phys Practices, and Cancer Center Infusion.
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates nursing activities provided by the oncology clinic(s).  Ensures that physician and patient needs are met.
  • Develops and implements systems to ensure the quality, efficient, cost-effective operations of the clinic(s).  Monitors customer satisfaction and service utilization and initiates short-term corrective action as needed.
  • Assists with establishing policies, procedures, and protocols necessary to accomplish daily tasks, processes, and long-range goals consistent with standards established by the health system, TJC,OSHA, ACOS and other regulatory agencies.
  • In partnership with the Director of SEH Physician Practices administers department personnel management programs to include, but not limited to the following, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, orienting, supervising, counseling, disciplining, and evaluating nursing and clinic support staff. Process payroll records and all other Caregiver records required by the health system.  Oversees the continuing education of all clinic Caregivers.
  • Identifies opportunities for organizational and departmental improvement and works with  Director to, develop course of action, implement changes, evaluate impact of the change, researches and implements special projects as assigned.
  • Assists department Director to control financial performance of Medical Oncology practice and Infusion departments through economical utilization of personnel time, resources, and equipment.
  • Represents SMG Charlotte Oncology and Sparrow Eaton Hospital on hospital and departmental committees, conferences, and taskforces as assigned.
  • Works in conjunction with Director, physicians, and financial support to ensure that data input and billing collection and coding procedures are correctly followed.
  • Prepares reports, documents, and other statistical data required for departmental administration.

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Work Experience * Minimum of two years clinical experience appropriate to specialty * Demonstrates familiarity with the application of computers in data analysis and budget management.
Education * Associates Degree in Nursing and minimum two years nursing leadership experience; OR Bachelor's degree in Nursing. * Maintains competency by completing a minimum of 24 hours of Continuing Education Credit (CEU) Courses within each two-year period, corresponding to licensure renewal.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills * Clinical knowledge and independent judgement necessary to implement and direct individualized and comprehensive patient care. * Working knowledge of clinical pathways, variance reporting and process improvement. * Maintains accountability for own nursing care and care delegated to other to ensure adherence to ethical and legal standards. * Interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate, verbally and in writing, with patients, families, physicians, and other Hospital associates. * Demonstrated management skills and leadership ability.
